The future of the natural resources sustainability in Nigeria can and will issue from those deep strategic roots of consumption capable of accommodating not only the passing moment of obsolete tyrannous and illegal demands of influential stakeholders but also by the positive compelling future challenges and sustainable development. Pollution has been recorded to be the highest killer disease in the world between 2015 and 2016. Hence, the need to reshape the rate of consumption and pollutions accompanying the exploitation
and exploration of the natural resources is as necessary as ensuring that their security is placed at the acute heart of optimum consumption for the future benefit of the next generation. Understanding the influence of the stakeholder’s roles and their activities from the national level to the locals and designing methods of managing their affairs is paramount especially in the oil and gas (O&G) sector where Nigerians have depended so much for the survival of both economic and social development. This paper, therefore, crossexamined
and expose wider realities of the stakeholders who are undoubtedly leading the diminishing of environmental and social privileges in contrast to the essence of the pre-eminent resources. The methods used were both quantitative and qualitative supported by interviews, personal opinions of individuals, pestle analysis, and contributions from other scientific journals of international repute, different organizations and corporations in the oil sector. In conclusion, findings revealed that transition plans are required to reduce
pollution, manage waste, rebuild and reclaim lost land, apply best practices and indeed give the affected communities hope to live again.
