Non-academic members of staff of the University of Ibadan need to optimize their production in their primary assignments which are in diverse facets. Studies have shown that participation in recreation is a veritable tool in carrying out these diverse tasks to enable smooth running of the university work force effectively and efficiently. Therefore, this study investigated recreation participation as correlates of job capability enhancement among non-academic staff of the University of Ibadan. The Descriptive research design was adopted. Two hundred non-academic staff were selected using simple random sampling technique. Self-developed questionnaire (r = 0.73) was used as instrument for data collection. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics of frequency count, percentage and pie chat, and inferential statistics of Pearson Product Moment correlation and independent sample t-test. The result showed that recreation participation is a significant correlate of job capability enhancement among non-academic staff of the University of Ibadan (r=.496, p< .05), and a significant gender difference in recreation participation among non-academic staff of the University of Ibadan (t=6.705, p<.05) was also discovered. The study concluded that recreation has a significant positive correlation with job capability enhancement among non-academic staff of the University of Ibadan. It was also concluded that recreation participation level is low among non-academic staff and majority had poor attitude towards recreation participation. It was therefore recommended that the University authority should put in place recreation programmes that will encourage non-academic staff to participate in recreation and that there should be sensitization programmes on the importance of participating in recreation among nonacademic staff.
