The hepatitis B virus is a major public health problem and is highly contagious, affecting millions of people every year, causing disability and death. It is therefore pertinent for health education about hepatitis B disease to be promoted. This study thus examined the effect of health education on knowledge and attitude towards hepatitis B disease among secondary school teachers in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. The study employed a pretest-posttest quasi experimental research design. The sample size for this study comprised a hundred and twenty-three (123) secondary school teachers in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. Simple random sampling and purposive sampling techniques were used for the study. A self structured questionnaire was used to elicit responses from the participants. Three hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. Results showed that there was a significant main effect of treatment on knowledge of hepatitis B among the participants (F(1,121) =89.70; p<.01). Thus, improvement in knowledge and attitude of participants on prevention of hepatitis B. Findings of this study revealed that educational intervention has positive impact on knowledge and attitude of teachers towards hepatitis B virus. Therefore, educational intervention has the capacity to raise awareness levels of HBV and reduce HBV at risk behaviour among members of the society. It was recommended that there should be an integration of health training programmes to improve knowledge about hepatitis B disease within formal and informal school settings in Nigeria.
